Crazy about corn hole!!!!

Isn't he getting big?

This past weekend was absolutely wonderful. It was CRAZY weather for Kentucky. When I say crazy I mean crazy good. The high temperatures were in the 70's which made outdoor events fantastic, except for swimming of course. Maddie's teeth chattered like crazy because the water was so cool from our low evening temperatures.

Aunt Laura made a quick trip north to visit. Matt and Steph opened their home to us on Sunday. As you can tell from the photos, we did a little bit of everything. Food was delicious, fellowship was delightful and fun was had by all. We played a little corn hole, the kids swam and the day wound down with some two hand touch football. Sidney was as graceful as a gazelle, zigging and then zagging and bursting into the end zone. By the way, Corey and Sidney took on Maddie, Steph and Laura. No one was injured, but I think the older generation was worse for wear(ha ha). Bradley was all time quarterback and tried to guide both sides of the field. I think he might have been a little partial to one side but oh well.

While all of the festivities were going on I partook of my favorite past time, spoiling babies. That's right, Nana Chelle took turns "loving and hugging and squeezing " but I did not call them George. Only some of you will understand that last phrase. I am forever amazed by the life of a child. It is so hard to explain how I become completely undone around a baby, much less two of them. Worse things could undo me I guess.

Melanie and Bentley came over on Monday night. My goodness, that child changes every time I see him. He is such a little man and everything that comes out of his mouth is profoundly funny.

He stayed with Melissa this past weekend while Melanie was on a canoe trip. He informed Melissa and the kids that he was going home to visit his Mom and he would be back on Saturday. See what I mean? I could just eat him up. Love you guys VERY much!!

Laura and Maddie and I stayed up late looking old photos. It was bittersweet, we laughed and cried and did it all over again. The funny part was Maddie's reaction to all of the photos. It amazes me what your child perceives you to be. She was baffled that her Mom had played basketball and was a cheerleader and I had never told her. Personally, I didn't realize that it was significant. Tuesday morning held more tears when we bid Laura goodbye. There is a passage that goes something like this " weeping endures for the night but joy comes in the morning". And just to remember that it isn't goodbye but I'll see you later.
